B. Funding Of Grant
New Request
The maximum award per year is $125,000. Up to 10% indirect costs are allowable. If so, the total request of direct and indirect costs must not exceed $125,000 per year. An applicant may submit for a one-year or two-year grant. An application for a two-year period should contain a detailed budget for the entire period.
Alternate Funding
An applicant may not apply for, use or accept APMRF funds for a research project or part of a project already supported for the same purpose either by APMRF or by funds from another public or private source. Accordingly, full disclosure of all funds for research support available to the Principal Investigator from private, governmental and institutional sources, including APMRF, is required in the research grant application. If funds from other sources become available to the applicant during the review or tenure of an APMRF grant, then the Principal Investigator must so inform APMRF's Research Administrator in writing. APMRF
will then make a decision about the allocation of its research award.
C. Acceptable Direct Cost Items
- Salaries of professional staff without faculty appointments and technical assistants.
- Minimal but essential permanent equipment. Any permanent equipment must be directly relevant to the APMRF research grant.
- Expendable supplies
- Other expenses relevant to the conduct of the research.
- Travel, not to exceed $1000, to attend one scientific meeting. Any travel must be directly relevant to the APMRF research grant. The cost of attending the annual APMRF NP-C Scientific meeting by funded Investigators will be covered by separate funds provided by the Foundation.
D. Grant Budget Items That Are Not Acceptable
- Salary for the Principal Investigator or participants with faculty appointments
- Construction, alteration, maintenance or rental of buildings or building space
- Office equipment and furniture
- Dues for membership in scientific societies
- Office Supplies
- Tuition

E. Consent Form
A sample of the form approved by the grantee institution for the purpose of obtaining informed consent must be submitted with the application.
F. Animal Studies
If animals are used in the proposed study, a certification form must be provided to the APMRF indicating that appropriate precautions have been taken to assure that proper treatment, care and humane conditions have been provided.
